MakeUpDiary #11B Romantique Featuring Kate Colorcious Diamond BR-1

here comes the second look i created with the colorcious diamond palette! i called it ROMANTIQUE because it's a soft and romantic look to me. what can look more romantic than rose gold, brown eyeliner, and pink blush!? this look is perfect for day time, a first date, or for anyone who's middle name is "sweet".

the key to this look is the feminine eyebrows that are skinnier and longer than korean eyebrows, and it has a slight arch. the entire eye look is kept very soft with the help of brown eyeliner. since rose gold is actually brown with a slight reddish undertone, it pairs really well with a pink, hence i used it for both my cheeks and lips.

if you're interested in the base makeup steps, it can be found here (complete with pictorials and instructions).

to add to the feminine look (for it to be categorized as romantic), wing out the eyeliner slightly and keep it thin. the angle should be parallel to the lower lashline (refer to pictorial above to get what i mean). i tried to make my eyes look rounder by drawing a semi circle instead of a triangle in my inner corners. rounder eyes are softer than sharper eyes!

hope you like the look!

MakeUpDiary #11A Sweet Young Thing Featuring Kate Colorcious Diamond BR-1

i am so in love with this palette, i decided to create three looks with it. this is the first look, which is the lightest of them all, and very suitable for girls of any age, especially if you wanna look young and energetic.

the essence of this look is the straight and thick brows which instantly took like 3 years off my age. pair that up with super bright eyes, take another 2 years off. that glowing cheeks that looks like my own probably took another 2 years off my age too. not forgetting the lightly tinted lips. everything here is kept to a minimal for that natural look.

of course, the canvas is very important in helping to achieve the -7 years effect. i didn't mention about my base makeup in the video because the steps are basically the same as my usual foundation routine, which is showcased in part 1 of the beginners make up guide. you can read up more over there. the key is to go light handed with the foundation, and do spot concealing (especially for the undereye circles) to correct any signs of tiredness and aging.

both ends of the eyeliner are pointing downwards for the smiley eye look. the cheeks look as though the colours are seeping out from within my skin, and the shiny candy like lips puts everything together in the right place.

this is my version of a back-to-school makeup look.
i wanted it to look refreshing, so i paid extra attention in concealing my undereye circles and brightening that area.
minimal eye make up :P

FINAL LOOK

no one will believe you studied through the night looking this refreshed!

COLOUR MAP

eyelid map
1. apply A all over lid.
2. apply B on the eyelid crease. blend.

lower lashline map
1. apply B on the lower lash line.
2. apply C on the inner corner, and the lower lid.

eyeliner map
1. draw the winged eyeliner. i drew a very thin line in my inner half, only thickening it towards the outer half. extend it just a little bit.
2. don't forget the mascara! i'm using the lashionista macara which gives very natural looking lashes. they lengthen quite well, so i really like using it for natural looking make up.

 THE LOOK

inu/neko 2
the highlight on the lower lid makes me look more refreshed and awake (or so i think)!

inu/neko 3
i really like this fresh faced look. i think guys will like it too!

the trick is using the matte colours to return the shadows to the eyes.
do you know that our eye lid has a slight tinge of colour on its own that gives it depth? after we apply our foundation, it'll cover those colours up, which ends up making my eyes look puffy and swollen. so it's essential to contour the eyes with a colour that is similar to the original eye lid colour to make it look natural again.

this, together with long and curled lashes are my secret to the no-makeup make up look! don't forget the mascara as it really helps to open your eyes, especially for light make up likes this, this will make you look more awake instantly!

MakeUpDiary M.U.D. #8 VINTAGE ROSE

i did this look for a vintage themed photoshoot with my gf.
romantic pink with the classic winged eyeliner.

FINAL LOOK
no makeup makeup
going for that pin up look!

Wednesday, March 12, 2014

have you watched girls generation's come back video, mr. mr.?
i think it upholds all their past standards in terms of the entire production, the theme, as well as the dance sequence!
the entire video seems to be a pink barbie kinda theme to me,
with very classic pin up looks for some of them, while very typical and bold korean looks for others.
this time i take up the challenge to create two of their looks :)

if you are an avid fan of korean fashion, park sora will be a familiar name to you.
she models for stylenanda, a korean fashion brand that houses a lot of quirky and stylish clothings.
while i'm not too interested in the clothes it has to offer, i'm really drawn to park sora's makeup.
i know she uses mostly 3ce products, since that is the makeup line produced by stylenanda!
today, i'm taking up the challenge to create her look WITHOUT any 3ce products.
can i do it with just drugstore products?

read on to find out how i did it!

i'm on a video roll lately,
much more active in making videos as compared to before!
finally getting my act together :D
the video is recorded in chinese, but i've added english subtitles to it!

this is a variation to the pink feline look i did a while ago.
this is the more natural and subtle version to it.
if there is a term for it, i'll called it "korean style", because it's more natural looking and gentle.

if the pink feline look is sassy kitty,
then this is definitely hello kitty, cute and adorable. :)

i was experimenting with different eye looks one night,
i didn't actually wear this out as-is because.. you'll see :P

inu and neko is japanese for dog and cat respectively.
i was trying to do an innocent puppy eye AND a sexy cat eye, both at the same time.
thank god for giving me 2 eyes so i can have one for each experiment :P

there's just no way i can go out with two different eye makeup!

MakeUpDiary M.U.D. #6 GREY AREA

i love this eyeshadow palette to death but i can't always wear it because it seems too much for day time.
but today, i decided to try something new.
i'm breaking away from the usual brown eyeshadow combo that i wear.

grey area final look

HI ALL!
here's my take on my favourite korean actress, song ji hyo's make up for the 1st look magazine that was released a while ago.

she did two looks for the magazine,
this is the lighter look.

song ji hyo has such a pretty face, i think she looks absolutely gorgeous without make up,
and when she's made up, she look so hot!

Saturday, January 25, 2014

i was thinking of what look to wear for my friend's wedding lunch reception,
i was going to be her emcee so my eyes need to look bold,
but not THAT bold that when you stand up close you'll get freaked out.

pink eyeshadow + cat eyes it is!

you can watch how i did this make up here!
i bothered to film a video for this look because i really like it

FINAL LOOK

the yellow lighting washed out the pink, it looks very pretty in real life!

Thursday, December 12, 2013

oh my gosh, i'm finally back into making videos!
my first makeup video this year!

FINAL LOOK

this is just a simple variation one of the looks i've published earlier, M.U.D. #3,
except that i used a black liner instead of the brown liner.
also, i used an orange blush instead of the pink blush!
so i'm calling this M.U.D. #3V, V stands for variation :P

this look was originally named "safest brown" because it really is my go-to makeup whenever i need to play safe.
brown eyeshadow + brown eyeliner, the safest combo known to mankind.

MakeUpDiary M.U.D. #1 DUSTY PINK

another series i'm starting so that i can keep track of the make up looks i'm doing!
i find myself looking back at my photos and wonder how i did that particular look. blame my bad memory!!!
so this is actually a good way for me to document it so i can easily recreate it if i feel like it.

this is slightly different from the GetTheLook series.
that series is done with a reference makeup look in mind.
M.U.D. is to purely document the looks and products used.

i named this look dusty pink because it's a mixture of pink and grey, the perfect colour combination in my opinon :P
this particular entry will focus more on the eyes and face only.

because of the way i winged my eyeliner, it gave me such a kitty cat look, i thought that the pink color softened the otherwise strong eyeliner look, making me look like a cute kitty instead of a cool (and unapproachable) kitty.

MEOW. hope you like the look.

原宿病容妝 harajuku "sickly" make.

GTL stands for Get The Look, it'll help me remember what products i used to achieve a certain look!
(yes i'm forgetful like that..! sometimes i look back at my past photos and wonder how i got that look..)
i want to try a new type of "make up tutorial", the apostrophe is there because it's not really a tutorial.
it merely serves as a reference for you and i!

more details under the cut.
