Etude House released a new collection at the start of November, it's theme - The mysterious Universe.

I'm so late to the party! I'll elaborate a little at the end of the post.



This collection is small, but varied. I think variety always gives an illusion of making things seem more interesting than it actually is.

Let's take a look, if you haven't already!

UNIVERSE MULTI PALETTE | US$ 24.70

An eyes and cheeks palette containing 7 colours: 6 eye shadows (1g each), and 1 blusher/highlighter (1.8g).


I love their creative swatching techniques! All of the different shades at a glance.

There are 2 palettes in this collection.



#01 PINK GALAXY
Reminiscent of the glittering galaxy, this palette has a variety of soft shades, pinkish toned point colours, and sparkling glitter. I believe the swatches are done in an anticlockwise spiral, starting from the blusher shade (the biggest pan), ending with the pan in the center.

#02 GOLDEN GALAXY
A gold shift of the previous palette now gives us the same glittery shimmery splendid, but in gold tones instead of pink.

UNIVERSE GLITTER PIGMENT | US$ 11.05

Made to look like a glittery firework spewed by a spaceship rocket, the oil binder gives you a high shine finish. The bullet shaped rubber tip reduces glittery fall out so you can use this without worrying it'll ruin the rest of your makeup!

PP501 Broken Rocket Flash is a pinkish purple colour, just like the glare of the center of the universe.

BK801 Starlight Dust of the Universe is a gold black colour, just like the revealing sparkling presence in the dark space.

PK002 Rocket Firework is a rose gold colour, created in the image of a charming space goddess.

UNIVERSE LASH PERM CURL FIX MASCARA | US$ 15.60

The classic Lash Perm Curl Fix Mascara gets a small face lift with this Be My Universe collection. If you look really closely, then handle now has some metallic dust that looks like what I think star dust would look like. The formula is still the same, it gives you 24 hour curls that is water, sweat, and sebum resistant! The special C-curve brush will pull up your lashes to create clump-free curled lashes.

UNIVERSE DEAR MY TINT & GLOSS TINTING LIPSTICK | US$ 10.40

A small addition to their existing Dear my tint & gloss tinting lipstick (lipstick case sold separately), both the matte and glossy lipsticks glides on smoothly. The matte lipsticks delivers sharp and vibrant colours.

UNIVERSE DEAR MY LIPS TALK CASE | US$ 5.20

5 new limited edition lipstick cases for this festive season! These are extra sparkly and glittery. Holographic is trending now I suppose (wait a minute.. this is old news isn't it?).

GLOW ON OIL VOLUME BASE (UNIVERSE SPECIAL EDITION) | US$ 20.80

Formulated with luminous oil and water, this base hydrates your skin and imparts a shiny finish. The gold ingredients and ruby powder creates a luxuriously radiant skin with its subtle red capsules. Using a thin layer of this glow up base before makeup helps increase the longevity of the make-up, with the added bonus of a gentle glow.

While it sounds extremely lovely, due to its potentially sticky nature, use only if you're in a very dry country like Korea. The bottle contains 30ml of product.

This set of scented hand cream is made up of 3 different scents, each with its own unique personality.

COLOURFUL SCENT EAU DE PARFUM SPECIAL SCENT (BE MY UNIVERSE) | 23000 WON

Inspired by the mysterious universe, this is Etude House's take on what it will feel like to fall into outer space - a charming and alluring scent. The blend of Neroli and Musk creates a charming harmony that warms and softly envelop the entire body.

This set contains a perfume spray (50m) and a roll on (7ml). How convenient! On a side note, the perfume isn't available on the International site.

UNIVERSE BRUSH TRIO SET | USD 29.90

The limited edition brush set and pouch is inspired by the emotions of the universe, with its glittery pouch and pastel coloured brushes.


The pouch allows you to carry a variety of makeup products within, including the 3 brushes that make it easy to apply your eyes makeup, contouring, and blusher/highlighter.

The International site says the promotional period is from 6 November to 23 November, but it's still showing discounted prices now. If you're in Korea, lucky you because the promotion runs till 27 December!

Ending Note:
I actually quite like this small collection. Even though I may sound like I'm underwhelmed, it's actually quite the opposite! I am surprised how big this collection feels despite the small number of items!

Now, the eye shadow and cheek palette looks like a really convenient product, and might benefit those who don't already have massive amounts of separate eye shadow palette and blushers. But who're we kidding? If you're reading this entry, you probably are a makeup addict :P I think what might be better is if it allows you to change up that blusher shade with other blush pans. The current selection is just too narrow, don't you think? You either get a blush or a highlighter. Granted, you could use one of the shimmery/metallic eye shadows as a highlighter, but then again, you do kinda need that huge of a surface area to coat your blush brush to make sure you get a diffused and blended look.

The glossy lipsticks was a pleasant surprise too. I've seen topcoats similar to the 2 above released by mostly western brands. Seeing Etude House take the lead in the Asian market is rather nice. Now these can transform any existing lipstick you have, that's quite exciting isn't it?

Also excited about the glow on volume base, something I would love to use but probably won't because Singapore's climate is too humid for one to wear that base comfortably. The only shiny skin you get here is because you're sweating a lot, and your oils and sebum gets secreted due to the warmer weather.

That's all I have to say about this collection!

As for my extremely lateness to this entry, I feel like I'm in some sort of a ditch lately. I don't really feel like doing anything more than status quo, so blogging just went to the very back of my mind when I'm in such a state. Hoping that this storm passes soon so I can find that vitality back. If you're still reading on, thank you for your concern!

More collaborations!

Is it deja vu? I thought I already blogged about this collaboration before.. Then I realize it's the 2nd edition of the collaboration. 3 new cushion cases, and 2 new products!

It seems like it's been released in Korea since March, and is only hitting the Taiwanese shores this month. I tried looking for online retailers to link but failed to find any.

THE FACE SHOP | BB POWER PERFECTION CUSHION SPF50+ PA+++ | 20000 WON | 15g

A high coverage BB foundation that feels light weight, it hugs the skin closely while moisturizing it. Contains hyaluronic acid to make skin appear plumper and more defined.

THE FACE SHOP | CC LASTING CUSHION SPF50+ PA+++ | 20000 WON | 15g

A long lasting CC cushion that is sebum resistant, it's able to cover pores and uneven surfaces. Formulated with moisturizing ingredients to create a glowy look that isn't sticky.

Then again, if you've ever tried Korean foundations, they are usually very fair/pale, so I doubt the difference between these 3 shades is gonna be huge.

From left, there are 2 shades for colour correction (light green and brightener), 2 shades for correcting dark circles (ivory beige, natural beige), 1 shade for contour (deep brown), and 1 shade for brightening/highlighting (light pink). Comes with a dual sided brush for precise application and blending.

Another liquid matte lip colour

I just snooped around on the Maybelline Japan site and found out they're releasing a new liquid matte lip colour. I can't call it a lipstick because it's not!

Maybelline claims it is a velvety liquid lip colour that turns matte. HOWEVER, lots of review said it doesn't turn completely matte. It doesn't set like other products, so technically speaking it doesn't feel as dry. Downside to that is it's not a long wearing formula (which might be a upside to someone else with drier lips).

Liquid matte lip products have had its 15 minutes of fame after so many other brands released something like that in the previous year (NYX, Colourpop, Kylie, Anastasia beverly hill, Milani, just a few I pulled off my head). It feels like Maybelline is a little late on this train that's already leaving the station (or is liquid matte lips here to stay?).

The VIVID MATTE LIQUID was released in the USA at the end of 2015.

It has been repackaged for Asian release. I haven't visited any drugstore in a long time so I don't know if it's actually in Singapore yet or not. It might have came and gone for all I know, but I can't find any information on its official site, so I'll assume it haven't hit the shelves yet. For some reason I feel kinda deja vu when I saw it on the Japanese site. I might have seen it when I passed by Watson's a while ago!? (Brain starts to question reality)

Retails at 1500YEN, or SGD$21.90

Anyway, you can see the packaging is reminiscent of the Lip Polish. The applicator is also different from the US release - this is more angled and flatter. Should do a good job getting the product into the corners of the lips without messing it up.

The US version has 21 colours to choose from. We have a grand total of 7! (There's only 6 on the Official Maybelline Japanese site though) With that said, the selection of colours should be well loved by the majority, since they carry the shades you can wear on a daily basis.

Asia haven't caught on the nude lips trend yet, so I'm surprised to see they have included one nudish shade!

As they are numbered differently from the US version, I can't match the Asian colour code to their respective US colour codes.

If you want an affordable liquid matte lipstick that sets and stays (for at least 3 hours), you can check out the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet. My friend gifted me one and IT'S AMAZING.

A little late on the news!

Happy lunar new year! I spent the last weekend at my grandmother's place, which explains the lack of post last week.

Kate's new products were released on 1 February in Japan, so I'm actually late to the party. I just found out today so I quickly did this entry up. I remember lamenting the little sadness last time when there were no news of new Spring products from Kate. It's wasted feelings because Kate did have something planned!

It's a small collection, but I'm always excited to see what's new!

METAL GLAMOUR EYES | 1700 YEN

Kate's new eyeshadow is here to give you the ability to create glamourous eyes and control just how much shine you want.



The eyeshadow quad consist of 3 main shades that creates the perfect gradient effect for a naturally pleasing look, and an additional 2 shades as the finishing touch. The metallic/pearlescent shade contrasts the darker colours to create dimensions, allowing you to create more refined features.

That the official fluff anyway. The eye shadow quad reminds me of their older eyeshadow palette, the COLORCIOUS DIAMOND. Except the new one have only 1 glittery/mirror finish shade as opposed to the 2 glittery shades in colourcious diamond. The additional of a metallic medium (they call it their dark metallic) colour is new.

Over on their official site they went one step further to show you how to achieve certain effects with the metallic and glitter shades. Funny they used a caucasian eye shape to showcase it because most of its target consumers probably do not have that specific eye shape. Then again, it's just for illustration purpose, so I understand :) Also, I'm not one to complain about having more reference photo to take a look at their finish. It appears the metallic shade isn't THAT metallic.

SUPER SHARP LINER EX | 1100 YEN

The new Super Sharp Liner EX promises to be easy to use, bleed proof, sweat/water/sebum resistant, yet easily removeable. The jet black eyeliner has a glossy finish, brand new faceted packaging, and ultra fine pen tip (that's developed together with pentel, then pen maker).

The new product packaging is supposed to help with application. By holding it on its grooves, you can pivot the eye liner properly to easily fill in the gaps between your lashes (NOT the water line). The result is bigger eyes and fuller looking lashes.

I've owned one of their eyeliner from the super sharp series before, and I won't say it's my favourite eyeliner. I'm not sure if this would be the same formula as before. Regardless, the new packaging is BEAUTIFUL.

GLAMOUROUS LASH | 1400 YEN

The new volumizing mascara comes with a primer (fiber volume base), and a black mascara. This film type mascara can be washed off by warm water.

COLOUR ENAMEL GLOSS | 450 YEN

The sheer lip gloss has high shine like glossy enamel, adding more definition to your pout. Formulated with moisturizing ingredients such as almond oil, jojoba oil, and olive oil, it keep your baby lips kissable at all times (do wipe away that gloss before kissing though).

Ending thought:
After owing so much makeup, I'm really more of a spectator than a player on the field now.
Seeing what they have to offer is like entertainment to me. Kate rehash their eyeshadows every few season because how else are you going to keep people entertained if you don't release old products in new packages?
I think the beauty sphere is pretty much saturated by now, so new and innovative products will be far and little.
But I do have to give it to Kate for having awesome packaging.
The faceted stuff always gets to me! URGH!

The year of the rooster is bringing about a few new products to look out for.

Etude House is welcoming the new year with a small Lunar New Year themed collection! Just a bunch of eye shadows and a few liquid lipstick/lip tint hybrid thingy.

The colours are supposed to be the trending colour of  2017 spring/summer. Well, that's the the official site says. Hahaha what do I know about trends and colours? Nothing!

Most shades are matte (denoted with CAFE in the swatches), with the exception of 4 shades that have a slight pearlescent sheen.

I just came across information that they are available in Singapore from 6 January. The liquid lips will be $17.90 each, while the eye shadows are $11.90 each. I didn't see them on the global site, so probably it's not available online yet.
