New eyeshadows!

I'm a little (2 months *cough*) late on this :P Visee have released two new products this season: a brand new (or not?) eyeshadow line, and a new mascara.

It's not much, but it's something!

Introducing, the GEMMY RICH EYES, and LASH LONG MANIA.

VISEE | GEMMY RICH EYES | 1200 YEN

Formulated with "Gemmy pearl" ingredients to create the iridescence of gems fragments. The top left and bottom right shades are pearly and clings onto the skin well, while the bottom left shade blends like a silky cream to add depth to the eyes. The top right shade creates a translucent veil of shimmer, perfect for topping it on the center of the lids without making the eyes look frosty or metallic.

As per other Visee eyeshadows, these are infused with moisturizing ingreients like hyaluronic acid and mineral oil.

VISEE | LASH LONG MANIA | 1400 YEN

A film type mascara designed to lengthen, curl, and separate your lashes in just one swipe. It has three types of fibres in order to achieve length in one swipe, and "Real Black Powder" to create intense, dark lashes. Formulated with lash care ingredients like hyaluronic acid and squalane, It's also easily removeable with warm water.

Ending thought:
The eye shadow is reminiscent of KATE's diamond eyes from many years ago. That transparent but pearly/shimmery/glittery shade (top right) that adds dimension very naturally, because it only reflects light when it is hit by light at certain angles. Unlike highlighting with an opaque, lighter shade to forcefully lift that area up regardless of lighting, I much prefer enhancing the eyes while still abiding by the laws of nature.


Hopefully, this has a better formulation than KATE, because I remember the diamond shade was rather scratchy and hard to pick up from the pan.

Sure, it's not a look for everyone, but definitely for those who likes subtlety.

As for the mascara, I just realize the "MANIA" line of their mascara are all film type mascaras that can be removed with warm water.

I gave myself a little break from blogging :D Felt like it was necessary because ideas need space and new inspiration to grow, and the best way to do that is to break away from the usual routine and expose myself to something new or different.

Anyway, here are new products from Canmake and Visee that will be released in the upcoming months. Nothing new under the sun really, but as always, it's nice to see something different, yea?

It looks like my favourite brand Kate has nothing new up their sleeves this spring. In fact, there isn't too much new stuff among drugstore brands. Which is why this entry only contains stuff from Canmake and Visee.

CANMAKE | GLOW FLEUR CHEEK (08) | 800 YEN

This limited edition bluish pink/fushia shade sits close to your skin like a cream blush, while the glow powder on the upper left imparts a sheer and glossy finish to places you'd like to high light.

CANMAKE | GEL LINE ARTIST (B02) | 550 YEN

With its silky smooth texture, it glides over your skin easily. Formulated to be waterproof, this eyeliner is budge proof and long wearing!

B02 is a gentle brown.

CANMAKE | CREAM CHEEK (15) | 580 YEN

A cream blush that changes texture according to the type of foundation/base product used. If a dewy foundation is used, the blush will take on a glowy finish. If a matte foundation is used, the blush will take on a powdery soft finish.

15 is an elegant pink.

CANMAKE | STAY ON BALM ROUGE (T01 T02 T03) | 580 YEN

A lip tint that stains your lips, it is hydrating and comfortable while being long lasting.

VISEE | JEMMY RICH EYES | 1200 YEN

With the radiance of diamonds, this eyeshadow quad inspires to add sparkles onto your eyes like crushed jewels.

Available in 5 colours.

Note: Name could be gemmy instead of jemmy. Not sure which is the exact one at the moment.

VISEE | GLOSSY RICH EYES (PU-11) | 1200 YEN

Comes with a creamy and glossy eye base on the upper left, this monochromatic quad and has a wet, glossy look to it.

PU-11 is a modern purple, and bear some semblance to their Winter 2014 limited edition eyeshadow (PU-10).

VISEE | SOFT AND SLIM EYEBROW PENCIL (GY001 BR305)| 800 YEN

Naturally defines the tail of your eyebrow with its 1.7mm soft and ultra fine core. Comes with a spoolie to soften the look.

GY001 is a soft gray, BR305 a dark brown.

VISEE | LASH LONG MANIA (BK001)| 1400 YEN

A film type mascara that can be washed off with warm water, it is formulated with 3 types of fibre for the perfect balance, giving you long and separated lashes. Possibly clump free!

VISEE WINTER LINEUP: WINTER DOLL

Inspired by the colour of snowy scenery and the warmth of fur, blue and taupe has been chosen as the focus colour for eyes this season to create a grown up dolly make that invokes a sense of nostalgia.

Visee has released a limited edition line up that includes eyeshadow, mascara, lipstick, and a finishing powder, reminiscent of sparkly snow flakes!

The official release date of these products is 16 November, so a few more days from today!

SHIMMER RICH EYES | 1400 YEN

A blend of pigmented deep colours and shimmery shade (aptly named Shimmer Spice) comes together to help you create big and lovely eyes.

BR-9 Taupe Brown is inspired by the warmth of fur, while BL-10 Warm Navy is inspired by the snowy scenery. 

The way they described the colours makes me want to wrap myself snugly with warm fleece while sitting near the icy cold window overlooking the snowy landscape. Kinda like enjoying the sun in an air conditioned place, I want to enjoy the cold in a warm and cozy room!

LASH VOLUME MANIA | 1400 YEN

Voluminizing mascara that voluminizes (ahem, no surprise here isnt it?) and also holds your curls. It's a film type mascara that can be removed with warm water easily.

For light weight volume, apply one coat. Go for two if you want gorgeous lashes.

COLOR POLISH LIPSTICK | 1500 YEN

Based on their highly pigmented and glossy lipstick lineup, here are two new and limited shades. 

These lipsticks are formulated with moisturizing ingredients, making them suitable for the dry winter. The gloss will plump up your lips to volume up your pout.

Going with the dolly theme, the shades are nudish, with red and beige undertone respectively.

INNOCENT VEIL POWDER | 1700 YEN

Inspired by the sparkly snowflakes, this powder wants to recreate that translucency and delicate sparkle on your skin. 

As a finishing powder, the refined shimmer will add dimension to your face subtly and even out pores. The powder is light and promises an airy finish, almost undetectable on the skin. 

Can also be used on the body such as the decollete, arms and legs. Formulated with moisturizing ingredients, this powder won't dry out your skin.

Ending thoughts:
The only thing that caught my attention is the Innocent Veil Powder. I haven't seen a shimmery finishing powder from Japanese drugstore brands before. I wonder if this will look like the canmake highlighter I own from eons ago? Also, at 1700 yen, it's on the pricier side. But still, I would love to get it IF it really does what it promises. I've been scouring the internet for its swatches, but it's not released as I'm writing this entry so.. I'll have to wait.

Sheer is in!

Visee is release two brand new products this fall, both emphasizing becoming of age as a woman. It's a small collection!

The keyword for this collection is probably sheer and translucent, since both products is designed to achieve that effect for a more subtle and mature look.

Both products will be released on 21st August in Japan.

FOGGY ON CHEEKS | 1500 YEN

A pigmented blush that has a sheer and soft finish, it can be built up for a more vivid colour. The baked blush will gently hug your skin for a natural look. Formulated with emollients to keep your skin hydrated and supple.

Available in 5 colours.

GLOSSY LIP JELLY | 1300 YEN

A gloss that adds dimension and shape to your lips, it goes on smooth without the stickiness one would commonly associate with lip glosses. Formulated with squalane for moisture, it acts like a lip balm to keep your lips pouty all day long. The colours are designed to blend into your original lip colour to enhance your natural beauty.

Ending Notes

I quite like the direction Visee is going - translucent. It just gives off an air of effortless beauty. Strong colours might sometimes come off as trying too hard, or makeup mishaps. Giving your skin the ability to shine through means others still get to see your natural beauty, enhanced and not covered.

Get ready for summer!

New product releases always excites me a little. Just a little! Because I already own so much products, I'm more like a spectator than an actively participating customer.

Plus, Visee isn't available in Singapore.

This is a small release as there are only 3 items, 2 of which are eyebrow products. Even though we often associate waterproof and sweat resistant products to summer time, I might have taken that quality for granted because I thought that is a minimum requirement for a product to be useful. Maybe it's just me!

It's great Visee introduced a waterproof eye crayon, as I think that would be extra useful for hot summer days! Or for days when your first date brings you swimming :P

COLORING EYEBROW MASCARA | 7G | 850 YEN

EDITOR'S NOTE
I think Visee is going in the right direction in terms of colour selection. They are doing something other brands aren't - releasing products in quirky colours that are rare among drugstore brands. In hindsight, they have been doing that with their eyeshadows, especially the glossy rich series.

Look. eyebrow mascaras aren't new in the market, but having a greyish brown shade is definitely a game changer since most of the other drugstore brands only produce yellowish brown eyebrow mascara.

The same goes for eyebrow powder, aren't they a genius for adding one more shade within the usual 3 colour eyebrow powder palette so that those with fancy hair colours (especially since pink hair is  more common these days) can finally get a conveniently packaged product that suit their needs, instead of bringing around a usual brow powder palette PLUS a pink eyeshadow?

At first glance, I thought the eyebrow palettes are eyeshadow palettes. Which by the way, you can totally use it that way!

Eye crayons are a good product to have during the summer because they adhere to the skin better, thus reduces the chances of creasing or meltdown. They also work well as an eyeshadow base to make powder eyeshadows pop! What's not to love about them? I hope they smell pleasant though, because my past experience with eye crayons were ruined by the putrid crayon smell. It does smell like crayola, and it's not nice in my opinion.

ENDING NOTE
i've seen swatches of the shimmer rich eyes, they're basically glossy rich eyes with an additional shimmery shade. doesn't really look very enticing to me, but i might change my mind when i see them in person. what's worth taking note is the appearance of two familiar shades (the greyish purple on the top left, and orangey brown on the bottom left) which looked a lot like the winter limited edition glossy rich eyes as i've mentioned before in my visee lust list.

also, there is a palette that contains a gorgeous emerald shade, that's rare and i would love to see how it looks like in real life! i don't currently own any green eye shadows so it may be fun to own it.

on a totally unrelated note, while scrolling through this entry, the wavy patterns on the eyeshadow palette created something like an optical illusion. try scrolling up and down around the glossy rich eyes palette while focusing on one spot! 

the mascara looks promising, but a film type mascara almost never holds a lash-curler-curled-lashes well. unless you use a heated lash mascara afterwards.

Get ready for un unconventional spring look

the theme is classical glam this spring! that's rather bold for visee to try something different (because most brands are totally pushing the pastel and soft shades, see jill stuart). i embrace differences, because it adds to the variety. as always, there're no hard rules in makeup! it's fresh to see something other than the usual pastels to be honest. also, who actually wears pastel eyeshadows!?

let's take a look at the new items that's released this spring.

 

NUDY RICH EYES BE-7 is an ash beige eyeshadow. the nudy rich series help you create natural dimensions with its 5 shades.

 

SUPER SLIM GEL LINER is a 1.5mm slim gel eyeliner pencil, probably really awesome for drawing that flick at the end of the eye.

comes in three colours, BK001 (DISTINCT BLACK), BR320 (NATURAL BROWN), GR720 (STYLISH KHAKI)

EYEBROW PENCIL comes in 4 spanking new shades:
GY001 olive grey (warm toned)

PK820 looks like a electric hot pink from my monitor :P i'm eyeing it very intently.

the most eye catching things in this line up are perhaps the COLOUR POLISH LIPSTICK and the SUPER SLIM GEL LINER. the addition of a screw brush to the back of the EYEBROW PENCIL is a nice touch too :) i might just pick up their eyebrow pencil instead of kate's because of the brush!

Lust List #2: Visee

continuing on with the festivity, here's lust list number 2! i'm just sharing what i've seen during my "monitor shopping" lately since i can't make videos now.. i have more time on hand :P

visee is a japanese brand that has been around for quite some time, but they didn't really fall into my radar for some unknown reason. they've recently overhauled their brand, graduating from "girl" and moving on to "lady". they're calling themselves glamourous, and the packaging definitely fits the bill - lacey patterns embossed into the packaging and the product!!!

i've been looking at the visee eyeshadow palettes ever since they did a "line revival" - they totally redesigned their brand image and product packaging. now they're really appealing to me, despite knowing how good their eyeshadow was all along. it's said to be even more pigmented and creamy than kate's eyeshadows!

visee is a product line produced by kose that caters to the younger crowd, just like what kanebo did with kate, and shiseido did with majolica majorca. smart move.

EYES

as usual, the eyeshadow caught my eyes first. there are 4 products in their entire product line - eyeshadow duos, quads, and two quints. BEAUTIFUL PACKAGING, especially the glossy rich eyes.

i've only showed three of the products here, from left to right:
glossy rich eyes: eyeshadow quad, containing one sheer pearly base and three pigmented colours
smoky rich eyes: gradated eyeshadow quint, containing one "souffle base", 2 gradation colour, and 2 liner colour.
nudy rich eyes: sheer and gradated eyeshadow quint, also containing one "souffle base", 2 gradation colour, one liner colour, and one highlighting colour (for the inner corner of eyes).

based on online reviews, the nudy rich eyes are the sheerest of them all, while glossy rich eyes are the richest. i'm not too sure what kind of texture the base is, but it appears to be a semi cream type kinda product that may promote creasing. :/

gotta admit, part of the reason why they caught my eyes this time round is because they were ranked number 1 in terms of popularity. i mean, it must be pretty good if that many japanese girls like it, right? or is it just hype? :X

GLOSSY RICH EYES: (1200 yen)

they offer 8 colour selections, i rounded down my interests to two. actually, i'm really interested in their orange and pink palettes too.. but... i feel bad lusting after 4 eyeshadow palettes from the same series at once.

PK-3 is probably the most popular colour because it's the one featured in the ads. it's a burgundy palette that consist of beige and berry shades. i won't lie - i am really attracted to the colours, but then again this isn't a very daily colour.

BR-5 is a gold brown palette, looks really similar to the lavshuca melting eyes palette i have in terms of colour. this leans towards the yellow browns as the description says.

i just changed my mind.

PK-2 is a collection of gold pink shades, containing a blend of gold and pinks. looks so lovely, isn't it?

OR-6 is the orange brown palette. according to the description, it has a "clear milky tone orange brown", does that mean a pastel orange kinda effect? either way, it's really up my alley.

SMOKEY RICH EYES: (1400 yen)

also offers 8 colour selections, WOW. this palette seems like a good replacement for my kate gradical eyes A, not just because of the gradation, but also because of the brush that comes along with the palette! it's not just the dual sided spongey chip! it's a chip AND a brush!

the two darkest colours on the right are liner colours, yes, both of them!

you can tell i'm not too adventurous here. can't decide which brown i should get next time.
BR-3 has orange brown shades, while BR-5 has gold brown shades. the swatch they have makes BR-3 look like copper toned, while BR-5 looks more neutral.

i'm liking BR-5 more looking at the photos.

NUDY RICH EYES: (1400 yen)

this product line offers 5 colour selection, it seems to be most appropriate for those who want just a hint of makeup. it's economically unfeasible to get something like this because you can probably make do with the previous 2 lines when applied with a very light hand. however, it may just be the best thing ever for makeup beginners since there's no way you can go wrong with this - the lack of pigmentation means you won't ever get any obvious unblended colours.

BE-4 contains pink beige shades, which actually looks more neutral to me than the other shades (seems to be too yellow or red).

this palette ranks number 4 at the @cosme ranking, FYI.

CHEEKS

another thing that caught my eyes are their blusher. the lip and cheek cream is a relatively new product that came out this year, but they totally beat their own powder cheek blusher hands down!

3rd place! canmake cream cheeks are 4th place!


there are two blushers offered, a cream and a powder formula. the cream blusher can be used on the lips as well..

but my lipstick can be used as a blush too, so i'm giving it a pass.

BLEND COLOR CHEEKS: (1500 yen)

there's 8 colour selection, each of them offering a cheek colour in a series of pinks, corals, and reds, and a "blending colour" (the colour right at the bottom). apparently, you're supposed to use the blending colour across the nose bridge (according to its instructions)!? i don't know about that.

BE-8 is called gold beige. offering a cheek colour and "skin blending colour". i'm wondering if this shade can be used as face contour. the formulation seems to be pearly based on the description: "gold pearl shiny bronze".

LIPS

CREAMY LIPSTICK: (1500 yen)

comes in a selection of 10 lip colours! honestly speaking, i'm not too interested in their lip colours since japanese formulas tend to be super shiny and creamy.. not that i'm complaining, but i don't always want that shiny look. if these were matte, i'd give it more thought. 

CORRECTION: i won't give it a second thought if they decide to release matte formulas.. BECAUSE LOOK AT THAT PACKAGING!! i love it to bits! all black everything! SLEEK! and the matte black lace printed on the tube.. good lord.

WINTER SPECIAL:

they even released a limited edition for winter this year! i'm not a fan of nail polish, but the colours look awesome like that!

5 matte nail polishes, two limited edition eyeshadow (a pinkish brown and a beige purple), and two eyeliners (brown and gray purple). the eyeshadows are in a white packaging as opposed to the usual black case.

good lord, the brown palette (BR-9) looks good. looks really subtle and meek! it's called warm skin. from the photo, it looks like a very soft pink beige and some browns thrown into a palette.

PU-10 is called winter orchid, it's something that can go wrong very easily on asian skin. do you know that orchid is the pantone colour of the year? random bit of info! this palette consist of grayish purple shades, which just may work on asian skin if you're fair enough!

IN CONCLUSION

i know i'm going a little cray cray here. i'm looking forward to swatching them when i'm back in HK, since they're now available there! no need to travel all the way to japan >_< i'm actually very excited to try new eyeshadow brands, since my stash is mostly dominated by kate..

not that i need anymore eyeshadow though.
